Trinity hacks a message:

Wake up, Neo.

The Matrix has you.

Neo wakes up and tries to delete the message.

Follow the white rabbit.

Neo tries the escape key.

Knock, knock.

Neo is startled by a knock on the door.
Choix and DuJour are two hours late.
Choix invites Neo to "unplug" and get some R&R.
Neo declines, until he sees a white rabbit
tatooed on DuJour's shoulder.

Better than an Allegory :
Tolkein speaks my disclaimer

At some point in my search for truth,
I opened a door to a place I could not control.

Neo follows Choix and DuJour to a nightclub,
where
Trinity meets Neo to warn him.

Trinity:
Hello Neo.

  Neo:
How do you know that name?
Trinity:
I know a lot about you.

  Neo:
Who are you?
Trinity:
My name is Trinity.

  Neo:
Trinity. The Trinity? That cracked the IRS d-base?
Trinity:
That was a long time ago.

  Neo:
Jesus.
Trinity:
What?

  Neo:
I just thought, um...you were a guy.
Trinity:
Most guys do.

  Neo:
It was you on my computer. How did you do that?
Trinity:
Right now all I can tell you is that you're in danger.
I brought you here to warn you.

  Neo:
Of what?
Trinity:
They're watching you, Neo.
  Neo:
Who is?

Trinity:
Please, just listen.
I know why you're here, Neo.
I know what you've been doing.
I know why you hardly sleep;
why you live alone;
and why night after night
you sit at your computer.

You're looking for him.
I know, because I was once looking for the same thing.
And when he found me,
he told me I wasn't really looking for him.
I was looking for an answer.
It's the question that drives us mad.
It's the question that brought you here.
You know the question just as I did.

  Neo:
What is the Matrix?
Trinity:
The answer is out there, Neo. It's looking for you.
And it will find you, if you want it to.

The next day, Morpheus and Trinity
attempt to help Neo avoid arrest.
However, his escape route requires a flying leap
from an office window to a fireescape.

  Neo:
This is crazy. No way. No way.

The street is forty stories below.
He is captured and planted with a bug.
At home that night, he awakens to a ringing phone.

Morpheus:
Go to the Adam Street Bridge.

Even when I made wrong turns, the answer pursued me.

Neo is picked up under the bridge.

I had to let go of my own ideas
about the universe
and open myself
to someone else's story.
I agree to meet on their terms.
Switch turns in the front seat
and aims a gun at Neo,
who has just gotten in the back seat.
Neo reacts.

What the hell is this?
Trinity:
It's necessary, Neo; for our protection.

  Neo:
From what?
Trinity:
From you. Take off your shirt.

  Neo:
What?

Switch:
Stop the car.

Listen to me, Copper-top.
We don't have time for "Twenty Questions."
Right now there's only one rule:

Our way or the highway.

Neo:
Fine.

He opens the car door to leave.

Trinity:
Please, Neo. You have to trust me

  Neo:
Why?
Trinity:
Because you have been down there—
you know that road.
You know exactly where it ends.
And I know that's not where you want to be.

These strangers who offered their take on life had something I wanted, even if I couldn't buy into all of their packaged deal.

Neo closes the car door.
Apoc drives on.

Trinity:
Lift up your shirt and lean back.
We think you're bugged.

Using a rather stange looking piece of equipment,
she searches for and extracts the bug.

In order to hear more, I had to admit I was less than perfect. I had to expose what was wrong with me, not just my world.

Neo reacts to the extracted bug:
Jesus Christ, that thing is REAL!

Just before meeting Morpheus,
Trinity counsels Neo:
Be honest. He knows more than you can imagine.

    For real.

Morpheus:
You're here because you know... feel...
that there's something wrong with the world...
like a splinter in your mind...
Do you know what I'm talking about?

Neo:
The Matrix.

What is it?

Morpheus:
It is everywhere...
it is the world that has been pulled over your eyes
to blind you from the truth.

    Neo:
What truth?
Morpheus:
That you are a slave, Neo.
Like everyone else you were born into bondage...

Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is.
You have to see it for yourself.

I can only show you the door.
You have to walk through it.

Another choice!

I could turn back, and believe whatever I wanted to believe. Or I could surrender to the truth: that I was bound... that I could be set free...

Morpheus:
After this, there is no turning back.

That's not what I want to hear.
But I am desparate.
I don't want the story to end.

Morpheus:
You take the blue pill, and wake up in your bed
and believe whatever you want to believe...

You take the red pill, and find out just
how deep the rabbit hole goes...

Remember, all I'm offering is the truth, nothing more....
