Neo and Trinity reenter the Matrix and invade the military building. They have to kill everyone they come into contact with, else they will face an Agent.

"There is no spoon," Neo tells himself.

(Office where Morpheus is captive)

Agent Smith, observing Neo through the window:
No.

Morpheus:
Do you believe it now, Trinity?

Morpheus:
She told you exactly what you needed to hear, that's all.

Neo, sooner or later
you're going to realize,
just as I did,
there's a difference between
knowing the path
and walking the path.

The three make their way to an exit. Morpheus, who is injured, goes first. Just as Trinity takes the phone and exits, an Agent shoots the receiver. The phone is destroyed, and Neo is left alone with the Agent...

His prophesy cannot be far from his mind...

You're going to have to make a choice. In the one hand you'll have Morpheus' life and in the other hand you'll have your own. One of you is going to die. Which one will be up to you.

He doesn't run.

(Nebuchadnezzar)
Trinity:
Run, Neo. Run!

What is he doing?

Morpheus:
He's beginning to believe.

or... does he think he's going to die,
so why not die fighting?

(Subway station)

Neo and Agent Smith face off in a duel. When both use up their ammo, they fight on with their hands. Neo is taking a beating. The Agent, hearing an incoming train, pulls Neo down to the subway tracks, and pins him.

Agent Smith:
Do you hear that, Mr. Anderson?
That is the sound of inevitability.
That is the sound of your death.
Goodbye, Mr. Anderson.

Neo:
My name is NEO!

He frees himself, and Agent Smith is struck by the train. But in the Matrix anyone can become Agent Smith, and the Sentient Program soon posesses someone else. A chase ensues to the nearest exit, with Smith, and then Agents Brown and Jones in hot pursuit of Neo.

Agent Smith remembers Room 303 of the Heart of the City hotel because that is where Trinity was discovered.
